Alcohol and drugs use most often starts at a young age to just have fun, to be part of group or under peer pressure or to feel good. This over a period of time for significant percentage of people leads to abuse and or dependency. At CADABAM’S Centre for alcohol and Drug De-addiction and rehabilitation programs are so planned that it addresses the whole gamut of addiction and related issues.
Alcohol De-Addiction and Rehabilitation:
Alcohol abuse and addiction is a chronic problem in which the person has
- Craving: A strong need/urge to drink alcohol
- Loss of control over one’s drinking: the person is not able to stop drinking if once starts to take
- Dependence: developing of withdrawals upon stopping of alcohol like sweating, tremors, anxiety, vomiting sensation etc.
- Tolerance: the person will need more amounts of alcohol to feel the same effect.
Some of the persons who abuse alcohol might not be physically dependent on alcohol which makes them deny that they have problem but still can have serious problem.
- They may not fulfil responsibilities at home, work, and college/university due to their drinking.
- They may put themselves in dangerous and socially inappropriate situations like driving while having a drink, drinking and going to work or drinking in socially or culturally inappropriate occasions.
- Legal and social problems like getting into arguments with family members, relatives and fights for petty issues.
- They may have interpersonal issues complicated due to alcohol drinking.
- They may spend great deal of their time drinking alcohol often at the expense of other activities and responsibilities.
